Riyadh: For the first time in Saudi Arabia, local women are now using public taxis.
According to Arab media reports, a woman named Munira Al-Murri is also driving a public taxi on the roads in Al-Ahsa Kashmiri of Al-Sharqiya region in the country.
The increasing participation of Saudi women in driving taxis is the first of its kind in the kingdom.
Taxi driver Munira Al-Murri says that she has experience in driving cars, so now she is driving a taxi. The driver also has the job of repairing vehicles.
“If the car breaks down, she doesn’t need a mechanic to fix it herself,” he said.
It should be noted that the Ladies Taxi Scheme has been introduced in Saudi Arabia, which is the first of its kind in the country, which will benefit many women of Al-Ahsa.
Under the service, 500 vehicles will cater to all categories of people inside and outside Saudi Arabia. The taxis will facilitate travel to Riyadh, Dammam and GCC countries.
