AVM uses the IFA in Berlin, which begins on September 1, 2023, to reveal further details about its new products and, above all, about their start of sale and prices.
Fritzbox 5690 Pro: For DSL and fiber optic connections
The Fritzbox 5690 Pro will be the new top model among the Fritzboxes from AVM. It is suitable for both DSL connections (including supervectoring for speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s) and fiber optic connections (GPON and AON). The advantage: You can buy the Fritzbox 5690 Pro now and use it on your DSL connection and then simply continue to use the Fritzbox later when you have switched to a faster fiber optic connection.

price and availability
However, this flexibility and future security comes at a steep price: AVM is asking 339 euros (RRP) for this model. Sales start should be in the fourth quarter of 2023.
How to connect the Fritzbox 5690 Pro to the fiber optic
Users can plug the supplied fiber optic cable directly into the connection socket and start surfing. An initial setup wizard guides the user through all the settings, as AVM promises. Compared to the use of two separate devices – namely fiber optic modem (ONT) and router – up to 40 percent of the electricity costs can be saved with a combination device, says AVM.
Wi-Fi 7 and Zigbee on board
In addition to DSL and fiber optic connections, the Fritzbox 5690 Pro with its tri-band mesh router (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz) already supports fast Wi-Fi 7 and has a Zigbee base. So you can connect smart home devices that use the Zigbee protocol for communication directly to the Fritzbox 5690 Pro.
A list of the supported smart devices, especially lights and sockets, can be found here. Among them you will find mainly Philips Hue and Ikea Tradfri, but also Ledvance, for example. In addition, the Fritzbox 5690 Pro is prepared for the Matter standard in the smart home.

Fritzdect 350: First door/window contact from AVM
With the Fritzdect 350, which will be available in winter 2023/24 for 39 euros, the Berliners are closing a gap in their previous range of devices. Because this is the first door/window contact from AVM. It detects the opening or closing (or tilting) of the door and window magnetically. In combination with the DECT ULE sensor and the smart Fritzdect 302 and 301 radiator controllers, you can then set up scenarios such as “If windows open, then heating down”.

The status of the sensor, e.g. Open/closed windows, for example, are signaled in the Fritz app Smart Home, on the Fritzfon and in FritzOS. The Fritzdect 350 is said to be so small that it can be concealed between the window frame and window sash on many Euro-rebate windows using the supplied adhesive strip, as AVM promises.
