New Balance, sportswear and footwear company, is planning put the closure in Spain and Portugal and direct its management to the Netherlands. The fact of breaking your relationship with Experience Store, which was its retail partner in Spain for more than ten years, has caused this chaos in the country.
New Balance has more than 20 stores spread throughout the country, and, offers work to more than five hundred people that they will remain on the street if this occurs. As the company has stated, the closing will take place before the end of the year.
Has the end of your relationship with the Experience Store caused a goodbye in Spain for New Balance?
The alliance between the Experience Store and New Balance began around 2012. Both companies agreed to sign a contract that allowed the Experience Store to manage and distribute New Balance products throughout the Spanish territory.
Everything was going ‘smooth sailing’ until last November 30 of this year, the sports company decided to break its relationship with Experience Store, without giving any reason about it. This, in response, filed a lawsuit alleging that the contract terminated in 2025, and that, therefore, the fact of having broken the contract would mean the end of the sports company in the country.
Last december 13 a trial was held in Pontevedra to solve the problem, and that New Balance was the winner. The Court of First Instance and Investigation declared that the motives presented by Experience Store against New Balance were invalid.
