Netflix’s decision not to develop an app for the Apple Vision Pro

The long-awaited launch of Apple’s first augmented reality (AR) viewer, the Vision Pro, is almost here. The company’s advance from Cupertino spatial computing has aroused great interest.

One of the problems that Apple will face, in addition to lower demand due to the high price, is the lack of applications from some key developers.

One of them is Netflixthe streaming platform that will apparently choose not to release an app for the Vision Pro.

According to Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters, The company’s decision not to develop a dedicated app for the Vision Pro is more likely due to resource issues..

We have to be careful not to invest in places that don’t have a real return… I’d say we’ll see what happens with the Vision Pro.

Netflix appears to be taking a cautious wait-and-see approach when it comes to the Vision Pro’s widespread consumer adoption. Putting time and effort into software that is only accessible to a significantly small user base takes some effort.

On the other hand, Vision Pro users can still access their Netflix account and library via the helmet’s built-in web browser. This method may be necessary because other major content platforms such as YouTube are also not natively available in Apple’s viewer.
