Recently, it was reported that Netflix intended to stop sharing accounts for that service. And the solution would be to apply an extra fee to subscribers who share the password of the service with users who do not live in the same house.

While subscribers to this streaming service were still digesting this information, the streaming platform went ahead with a pilot program that tested this exact measurement in three countries: Chile, Peru, and Costa Rica.

But now new information is emerging. According to a spokesperson for that service, for now Netflix will not extend this pilot program to other countries. In the words of the official, at the moment the company “is evaluating the usefulness of this resource, before making changes, at a global level.”

Which means that, at least during this summer, that is, until September, all platform subscribers will be able to continue sharing accounts, without having any kind of extra charge.

But keep in mind that the measure can still move forward, but later than expected.

Option of cheaper plans with ads will not advance either

Netflix has been losing subscribers, so far around 200,000. But by the end of the year, market analysts estimate that the platform will lose approximately 2 million users worldwide.

Unless the streaming platform discovers a new option to attract more users. The solution on the table is cheaper plans with advertising.

But when asked about when this option would be available to users, the same spokesperson replied that “it’s still early days and we don’t have a release schedule to reveal.”

In other words, during the summer of 2022, current users of the streaming service will not see any changes and will be able to continue enjoying the available content, without paying more or being interrupted by advertising space.
