Netflix is making big changes to how its TV app looks and works. The goal is to make it easier for users to find what they want to watch. The new design is simpler and more user-friendly, inspired by popular platforms like TikTok.
Eunice Kim, Netflix’s Product Director, and Elizabeth Stone, the company’s Tech Director, introduced the updates. They said the changes will help users discover new content and make it easier to access frequently used features. The redesign is part of Netflix’s tech strategy to improve navigation and make the most of its vast library of shows and movies.
Key changes include:
- More visible labels, like “Emmy winner” or “number 1 TV series”
- Easier access to features like “Search” and “My List” at the top of the screen
- Better recommendations based on user behavior and preferences
- A modern, clean interface that aligns with Netflix’s high-quality experience
The rollout is happening gradually over the next few weeks and months. Kim said the goal was to create a more flexible experience that highlights Netflix’s best content.
New Features on Mobile
On mobile devices, Netflix is testing a new search feature powered by generative AI. This lets users find content using natural language, like “I want something funny.” They’re also introducing a vertical feed of short clips from shows and movies, making it easier to discover new content.
Elizabeth Stone emphasized the importance of technology in Netflix’s success. She said the company’s ability to combine great tech with great entertainment is its “superpower.” The new TV experience will make it easier for Netflix to innovate and improve in the future.
