Production for the fifth season of the Netflix legal drama series “The Lincoln Lawyer” is officially underway in Los Angeles. Series co-showrunner Ted Humphrey confirmed the start of filming on Friday, March 13, sharing a photograph of the episode one clapperboard on social media. The rapid return to active production positions the 10-episode season for an anticipated early-to-mid 2027 premiere.
The accelerated production schedule follows the show’s early renewal on January 28, which occurred more than a week before the fourth season premiered on February 5. The fourth season generated significant viewership momentum for the platform, drawing over 26.4 million views and representing a 28% increase in audience retention.
The fifth season will adapt “Resurrection Walk,” the seventh novel in Michael Connelly’s franchise. The series continues to adjust the chronological order of the source material, having just adapted the sixth book, “The Law of Innocence,” for its fourth season. The upcoming narrative follows defense attorney Mickey Haller, portrayed by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, as he launches his own Innocence Project. Haller will take on the high-stakes appeal of Lucinda Sanz, a woman incarcerated for the murder of her ex-husband, a sheriff’s deputy.
Humphrey addressed the production pace directly in his Friday announcement, stating the filming process is “going to fly by and land on Netflix before you know it!” Production schedules indicate filming is projected to continue in California until approximately July 9. This timeline aligns the upcoming season with the franchise’s historical early-year release patterns in the broader television industry.
