The leader of the basketball team, Néstor Ché García, valued the defense of the Dominican team as one of his main weapons for today celebrate their pass to the Basketball World Cup.
García said that it is normally said that the Dominican Republic does not defend. However, he pointed out that none of his opponents in the past four games had more than 75 points scored.
“We think we won the game back, in the second half, I don’t know how much the score was in the second half but it seems to me that we became strong defensively,” said García in an interview at the end of the match between the Dominican Republic and Argentina.
The Dominican team triumphed last night in Mar de Plata, Argentina, against the selection of that country that was left out of the World Cup for the first time in 41 years, since 1982.
