Nelson Cruz: “We are confident in this team”

The defeat against Venezuela is learning and motivation at the same time for the Dominican Republic. “We have to learn about what happened, from defeats you learn, also from victories, but we are confident in the team we have and we are going to do what we know on the field and that is to play good baseball,” said Nelson Cruz after yesterday’s practice of the squad in this academic center.

The ninth Dominican is measured this Monday at noon against Nicaragua at LoanDepot Park, the home of the Marlins.

The rival of the date is not so well known at this level, in fact he makes his debut in the World Classic, but Cruz and the manager Rodney Linares will ensure that the necessary information reaches the members of the team tonight.

Nelson acknowledged that some of the players were a bit anxious on opening day. In any case, it only remains to think ahead.

“We are all positive. In practice the atmosphere was good and we have to think game by game and show what we Dominicans are made of. To our people who continue to support us, we need your support. Eleven million (people) for the same cause, the championship”, said the manager.
