Neil Nitin Mukesh laments lack of camaraderie and genuine appreciation in Bollywood industry.

Neil Nitin Mukesh is gearing up to make his digital debut with the web series “Hai Joonun.” In a recent chat with Screen, the actor opened up about his journey in the film industry.

From Film to Digital

Neil has been part of Bollywood for a while, featuring in films like “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” and “Saaho.” His upcoming web series, “Hai Joonun,” marks his entry into the digital world. Neil shared his thoughts on the current state of the film industry. He believes Bollywood has given him many opportunities, but it’s also shown him a side that’s not very positive.

A Shift in Culture

Neil Nitin Mukesh is unhappy with the lack of camaraderie and genuine praise in today’s film circles. He said,
If we’re part of the same fraternity, shouldn’t we be happy for each other? Shouldn’t we pick up the phone and say, ‘Great job’? But those calls don’t come unless the person is very close to you. Even then, no one says it to your face.

The actor shared stories from the golden era of Bollywood. He remembered a time when filmmaking was a passion and a collaboration. “Raj Kapoor sahib didn’t need validation, yet he would take his films to Hrishikesh Mukherjee for review,” Neil said. Today, everything is kept under wraps until it’s ready for release.

A Collective Despair

Neil believes this change stems from a collective despair. “Not everyone has tasted complete success. There’s an underlying ambition, a feeling of missing out on an opportunity that’s seeping into the system. It shouldn’t be this way.” The actor thinks this mindset is affecting the film industry.

Neil is known for his roles in films like “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo,” “Saaho,” and the upcoming “Hisaab Baarabar.” With “Hai Joonun,” he’s now taking his first step into the digital world.
