NCB Arrests Punjabi Singer Baaz Sran After 10 Years as Drug Trafficking Fugitive

Imagine living a double life. By day, you’re a rising social media star, churning out hit songs and charming thousands of followers. By night, or perhaps just in your past, you’re a wanted man, actively dodging law enforcement for a serious crime. This is the unbelievable story of Punjabi singer Baaz Sran, whose decade-long run from the law just ended.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) recently put an end to his elaborate hide-and-seek. They finally arrested the popular singer, whose real name is Jagseer Singh, also known as Kala. His arrest stems from a drug trafficking case that dates back a full ten years.

Back then, Baaz Sran was involved in smuggling a huge amount of opium. We are talking about 36.150 kilograms of the drug. The case has been active for a long time. In 2016, authorities officially declared him a fugitive.

To escape getting caught, Sran constantly changed his identity. He altered his name and even his appearance. He moved from place to place across the country. But here is the shocking twist: while living as a fugitive, he built a successful music career. He used social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram to become an emerging singer. His Instagram account alone boasts over 32,000 followers.

The NCB was determined to catch him. In May 2025, they launched a major operation. They published his photo and details in leading newspapers. They even offered a reward of 50,000 to anyone who could help in his arrest. This campaign finally paid off.

The NCB’s Chandigarh Zonal Unit led the successful operation. Officers tracked Sran down to Sirsa district in Haryana, where they made the arrest. After being taken into custody, he was brought before a court. The court then sent him to judicial custody. It is truly astonishing how he found fame through his music and videos while actively running from the law.
