Russell Westbrook, a former NBA Most Valuable Player, has signed with the Sacramento Kings for the veteran minimum salary, extending his decorated career for an 18th season after a period of uncertainty.
The 36-year-old guard will reportedly earn approximately $3.6 million for the upcoming season, according to ESPN. This figure represents the league’s minimum for a player of his tenure.
His move to Sacramento resolves recent speculation regarding his future in the league. Westbrook had been in discussions with the Kings during the preseason.
Westbrook was named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player in 2017. He also holds the all-time record for most triple-doubles in the league’s history, with 203 to his name.
