NBA: Giannis detiene a LeBron y los Bucks vencen a los Lakers; Booker supera a Embiid en triunfo de Suns

Greek Giannis Antetokounmpo stopped star LeBron James in his tracks and with 44 points and 14 rebounds led his Milwaukee Bucks to a 131-116 win over the Lakers in the NBA on Tuesday, while Davin Booker with 35 helped the Suns defeat to the Philadelphia Sixers.

Giannis was phenomenal on the day to give the champion Bucks the important victory against LeBron’s Lakers, who showed off with 27 points.

Forward Khris Middleton seconded the Greek with 21 cards, followed by Jrue Holiday with 15 points and 10 assists.

For the Angelenos, star Russell Westbrook also stood out with 10 points and 10 sacks, followed by center Anthony Davis with 22 and nine rebounds.

Booker beats Embiid

Earlier in Philadelphia, point guard Booker scored 35 points and veteran point guard Chris Paul had 16 points and 12 assists to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 114-109 win over the Philadelphia 76ers for the West’s 44th win in the season.

The Suns rallied from a 14-point deficit to win for the 14th time in the last 15 games, raising their record to 44-10.

Booker overcame the personal duel against Cameroonian star Joel Embiid, who overflowed with 34 points and 12 rebounds for the Sixers.

Embiid posted his fifth straight game of 25 points and 10 rebounds, the longest streak in the NBA in the past two seasons and the longest by a Sixers player since he himself had six in a row in the 2018-19 campaign.

Organizer Paul freed the Suns from a back-and-forth second half when he made one of two free throws for a 100-99 lead.

The Sixers then lost control of a defensive rebound and Paul quickly got the ball back and hit a 3-pointer.

The Suns continued to make free throws (22 of 24 total) to hold the lead, and Paul hit a shot from distance for a 110-104 lead, a lead that held until the end.

For the Suns, Mikal Bridges scored 23 points and Jae Crowder finished with 14 rebounds. The Suns missed all seven of their three-pointers in the third quarter, but still improved to 18-3 against the Eastern Conference team.

 Boston beats Brooklyn

In New York, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart each scored 22 points and the Boston Celtics recorded their sixth consecutive victory by rolling over the Brooklyn Nets 126-91, who played without any of their stars.

Without stars Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving, the Nets were not competitive and suffered their ninth straight loss.

Boston came out aggressive and quickly jumped out to a 28-2 lead for a win that was never in doubt.

Harden missed his third straight game with left hamstring strain. Durant remains out with a sprained knee ligament and Irving is not yet eligible to play at home because he is not vaccinated against the coronavirus, he can only play on the road.

Jayson Tatum added 19 points to the win as the Celtics continued their hot streak and moved past the Nets for seventh place in the Eastern Conference.

The Nets were considered the favorites to win the East with their Big Three, but have lost 10 of 12 since Durant was injured in mid-January. They just returned from a five-game winless trip through the West, which ended with back-to-back blowouts at Utah and Denver also without Harden.

A layup by Blake Griffin put the Nets on the board early, but the Celtics responded with a 14-0 run that made it 28-2.

The Celtics’ lead in the first half peaked at 67-39 on a 3-pointer by Smart, and they closed out 69-43 at halftime.

Smart totaled six 3-pointers and Brown finished with nine assists and seven rebounds.
