Navjot Singh Sidhu was released from jail after ten months

Navjot Singh Sidhu, the most famous politician of India and the leader of the Indian opposition party Congress in Punjab, was released from prison due to good behavior.

Navjot Singh Sidhu was sentenced to one year in jail by the Supreme Court of India in a 34-year-old road accident case, but he was released early due to good behavior on the part of Sidhu.

According to the Press Trust of India, Navjot Singh Sidhu’s official Twitter account has announced his release, while his lawyer HPS Verma has also confirmed his release.

According to lawyer HPS Verma, as per the Punjab Jail Rules, a good behavior convict is entitled to amnesty. And Navjot Singh was also released under the same law and was not discriminated against.

In May last year, the Supreme Court had ordered 59-year-old cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu to undergo one-year ‘rigorous imprisonment’.

Sidhu had resigned as Punjab Congress chief after his party’s defeat in the state elections.

Last week it was revealed that Navjot Kaur, wife of Navjot Singh Sidhu, was suffering from cancer. They have been diagnosed with second stage cancer.

He had said in his tweet that ‘He (Navjot Singh Sidhu) is imprisoned for a crime which he did not commit. I have forgiven everyone. I’m dying every day waiting for you to come out. Trying to relieve your pain as always.’

In his second tweet, he wrote that ‘Forgiveness can’t wait for you because it’s second stage cancer. No one is to blame because it is God’s plan which is the best
