The Indian cricket team is set to tour England next month for a five-match Test series, with the first match scheduled to start on June 20. Before the official team announcement, former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has picked his 16-member squad for the tour.
Sidhu’s 16-Member Squad
Sidhu has excluded Sarfaraz Khan from his team. Instead, he has included Karun Nair and Shreyas Iyer. Senior fast bowler Mohammad Shami also makes it to Sidhu’s list. The team comprises five fast bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna. Two spinners, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav, are also part of the team. The squad includes two wicket-keepers, Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel, and six batsmen.
Playing XI for the First Test
Sidhu has also picked his playing XI for the first Test at Headingley. The opening pair consists of Sai Sudharsan and Yashasvi Jaiswal, followed by Shubman Gill at number three, KL Rahul at number four, and Rishabh Pant at number five. Nitish Kumar Reddy comes in at number six, and Ravindra Jadeja at number seven. The pace attack is led by four fast bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh.
