Navjot Singh Sidhu got release permit

New Delhi: Former Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu has been released from jail.

According to Indian media reports, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu was released today after spending ten months in prison. His supporters welcomed the release of the former Indian cricketer.

Speaking to the media, Sidhu’s son Karan Sidhu said that the last ten months have been very difficult for the family, but all the sorrows have been washed away by the release of the father and we are extremely happy.

In anticipation of Sidhu’s release, Congress workers had put up posters and hoardings of Sidhu at many places in Patiala city, with words of welcome written on them.

It should be noted that in May last year, the Supreme Court of India sentenced Navjot Singh Sidhu to one year in prison in the road rage case.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, along with his friend, tortured a man during a street dispute in Punjab, India in 1988, after which he died.

It may be remembered that on the 24th of last month, Sidhu’s wife was diagnosed with cancer after which he shared an emotional message to his husband.

Navjot Kaur, wife of Navjot Singh Sidhu, wrote, “He is serving a sentence in jail for a crime he did not commit. Forgive whoever is involved.”

Navjot Kaur wrote, ‘I’m sorry I can’t wait for you because it’s stage two cancer and I’m going to have surgery today.’
