The wait is over for fans of the original Metal Slug team. After a 20-year hiatus, Kohachi Studio is back with a game that was completed but never released.
The team, comprising former developers from SNK and Nazca, has unveiled Navinosuke The Yo-kai Buster, a 2D pixel RPG that delves into Japanese folklore.
You play as Navinosuke, a rookie onmyoji robot, tasked with solving problems caused by mischievous yokai spirits. Explore different areas, battling or befriending these ghosts to aid in your adventure.
Gameplay
Your journey will take you through various locations, each with its own set of challenges and yokai to encounter. As you progress, the difficulty level increases, requiring you to strategize and make the most of your abilities and yokai allies.
Release Details
Navinosuke The Yo-kai Buster is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch in early 2026. For those who miss the classic Metal Slug style but with a JRPG twist, this game is definitely worth waiting for.
