Spanish forward Fran Navarro is set to confront his former club FC Porto this Sunday, returning to the Estádio do Dragão in peak form for Sp. Braga after a brief and largely unsuccessful stint with the Dragons.
Navarro has been a standout performer for Sp. Braga, contributing two goals and two assists in his last three matches across various competitions. His impressive run includes games against Bragança, Red Star Belgrade, and Santa Clara.
Overall this season, the player wearing jersey number 39 has scored six goals and provided three decisive passes for Sp. Braga. This consistent output makes him a strong contender for a starting position against his former team.
The 25-year-old striker joined Sp. Braga initially on loan from FC Porto. A definitive purchase option was later activated, securing his transfer for approximately 3 million euros, or about $3.25 million USD. He signed a contract with Sp. Braga extending until 2029.
During his tenure with FC Porto, Navarro featured in just 17 official matches. He scored only one goal for the club, which came against Montalegre in the Portuguese Cup.
His time at Porto also included a loan spell at Greek club Olympiacos. Now, with Sp. Braga, Navarro is demonstrating the form that could pose a significant challenge to his former teammates.
