Navalny’s mother accuses the Russian authorities of wanting to secretly bury Navalni

The mother of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who died in prison last week, accused authorities today of threatening her and wanting to secretly bury her son so that his supporters could not say goodbye to the president’s greatest enemy, Vladimir Putin.

“In my presence they receive orders from the Kremlin or the central apparatus of the Instruction Committee. They want this to happen in secret, without saying goodbye. They want to take me to the edge of the cemetery, to a fresh grave and say: “Here lies your son,” he said in a video published on the Navalni team’s Telegram channel.

The politician’s mother, Lyudmila NavalnayaHe added: “I don’t agree with it. I want you, those of you who valued Alexei, for whom his death was a personal tragedy, to have the opportunity to say goodbye to him.”

“I’m recording this video because they started threatening me: they look me in the eyes and tell me that if I don’t accept a secret funeral they will do something to my son,” the mother said , she would have access to it. The day before, he had picked up the body and signed the certificate

He mentioned a researcher named Voropaev who told him frankly: “Time is not in your favor, the corpse is decaying.”

“I don’t want any special conditions, I just want everything to be done in accordance with the law. I demand that the body be handed over to me immediately,” he insisted.

Navalnaya assured that Russian specialists claim to know the reason for the death of the opponent last Friday in the Arctic prison “Polar Wolf”, but continue to refuse to hand over the body.

“According to the law, they should have given me Alexei’s body immediately, but to this day they have not done so. Instead, they blackmail me, give me conditions: where, when and how Alexei must be buried. This is illegal,” he says in the video.

Navalni’s spokeswoman Kyra Yarmish assured on Telegram that the medical certificate signed by the mother stated that the opponent died of a “natural death”.

Meanwhile, lawyer Iván Zhdanov, the late opponent’s right-hand man, assured that the authorities had imposed three conditions on the mother.

The first is that Liudmila Naválnaya cannot speak publicly about the funeral, so the body cannot be received by her supporters at the airport.

Second, the family of the deceased must be accompanied at all times during the funeral by a member of the Russian Investigative Committee, a body that reports directly to the Kremlin.

Only when the body arrives in Moscow will the date of the funeral finally be determined, which will take place in Moscow or in the city of Vladimir.

“The funeral must take place exclusively in the family circle. Just as they secretly buried (Wagner Group boss Yevgeny) Prigozhin, the same must be done with Alexei Navalny,” they told him, according to Zhdanov.

A few days ago, Navalni’s mother sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin demanding that her son’s body be handed over to her, while his co-religionists filed a lawsuit in court to expedite the body’s handover.

The White House has not yet wanted to specify which sanctions the United States will impose against Russia, a country that has been subject to numerous economic restrictions from both Washington and the European Union (EU) since the invasion of Ukraine began almost two years ago years. years ago.

The Biden administration has imposed several sanctions against Russia, including measures to isolate oligarchs close to Putin, sanctions on the energy sector and the exclusion of Russian banks from the international interbank communications system SWIFT, which has further isolated the economy of the international financial system.
