Dozens of athletes will star from next Thursday to Sunday in the National Youth Boxing Championship to be held in Sabana Grande de Boyá, Monte Plata, a competition that already has a high competitive and organizational quality assured, its organizers highlighted this Monday in a meeting with the press.
The event, organized by the Dominican Boxing Federation with the support of the Ministry of Sports (Miderec), is dedicated to the minister of that portfolio, Francisco Camacho, and will bring together the champions of the southern, northern and eastern regions, as well as the of Greater Santo Domingo and the hosts of Monte Plata.
“It will be an event of great joy for boxing, of great quality, in which the future boxing glories of the country will compete."said the president of the organizing committee and Administrative Deputy Minister of Sports, Franklin De la Mota, at the activity held in the James Rodríguez room of the Miderec.
The championship also has the support of the State Economic Kitchens, the Airport Department, the Assistance and Housing Institute, the Sabana Grande de Boyá City Council and the Presidential Provincial Support Commission.
Its inauguration is scheduled for 5:00 pm on Friday, August 12, at the Sabana Grande de Boyá sports center, where the fights of boxers aged 17 and 18 will be staged. The finals will start on Sunday 14 from 10 in the morning.
De la Mota said that for Miderec the event is one of joy and satisfaction, not only because of the dedication to Camacho, but “because of the quality of the championship,” which will feature some 74 boxers out of the nearly 500 who participated in the regional qualifiers. .
“The thriving community of Sabana Grande de Boyá is always integrated into the sport, feel like you are at home,” said De la Mota, addressing several of the boxers who attended the meeting.
The official was accompanied by the executive director of the Airport Department, Víctor Pichardo; the mayor of Sabana Grande de Boyá, Isidro Mieses; the president of the Dominican Boxing Federation (Fedoboxa), Rubén García; the advisor and former president of that entity, Bienvenido Solano, and the president of the Monte Plata Boxing Association, Primitivo Cadete.
