National Women’s Boxing Championship begins this Friday with 128 athletes

Campeonato Nacional Boxeo Femenino inicia este viernes con 128 atletas

The XXVIII National Women’s Boxing Championship “INDOTEL Cup” will be inaugurated at 3:00 pm this Friday at the Pepe Mallén Coliseum, in San Pedro de Macorís.

The fair, which is dedicated to the Minister of Women Mayra Jiménez, will bring together 128 boxers in three categories and representing 25 provinces.

Friday and Saturday two daily billboards will be held, the first at 3:00 PM and the second at 7: PM; while on Sunday the finals will take place starting at 10:00 in the morning.

On Wednesday night, the local team, De San Pedro de Macorís, was presented, which is very optimistic, according to the president of the association, Ramón Leonardo, at the time of leading a press conference, in which Miguel Jiménez also participated, Provincial Director of Sports.

PARTICIPATING PROVINCES

Boxers from Nagua (María Trinidad Sánchez), Puerto Plata, Samaná, Salcedo (Mirabal Sisters), Cotui (Sánchez Ramírez), Bonao (Monseñor Noel), Moca (Espaillat), Higuey, Monte Plata, La Romana will participate in the championship.

Also the athletes from Santiago, San Francisco de Macorís (Duarte), La Vega, Mao (Valverde), San Cristóbal, San José de Ocoa, Baní (Peravia), Barahona, Azua, Santo Domingo Province and the National District.

The technical director, Juan Alberto Rodríguez, explained that 31 fighters will compete in the elite category, in the youth category 35 athletes will enter the ring and 47 boxers in the Children’s category.
