National Children’s Choir will present in TN the

The National Choir of Dominican Children (CNND) will present this Tuesday, May 23, the Magnificus Choir Gala, in which more than 150 singers and musicians will participate, in a concert that will take place in the Carlos Piantini hall of the Eduardo Brito National Theater.

Created and directed by maestro Ángel Herdz, the CNND will perform a repertoire that includes works by great composers in the history of music, with works sung in French, English, German and Spanish.

The presentation, in which a couple of dancers, the Gurabo Children’s Singers, the Camerata Caribe Orchestra and all the members of the Coral Canta y Toca Program will also participate, is part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the National Theater.

Ellin Rodríguez Luna, general coordinator of the CNND, recalled that all the children and young people of the Choral Program know how to read music.

“We are promoting art and culture,” explains Rodríguez, who added that the training period for these children is six years.

As reported, the repertoire will be varied and with a lot of movement, and that the name “Magnificus” is due both to the fact that the show is a praise to the voice, and to the fact that these Caribbean children and young people are capable of gracefully interpreting works classics in the history of choral music.

For his part, maestro Herdz pointed out that songs that have been well received by the public will be performed, so the first part of the concert will present well-known works, while the second part will offer classical songs.

The National Choir of Dominican Children, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, is the first of its kind in the country and brings together a select group of children who have been trained in the Sing and Play Choir Program.
