Napoli advance to the quarterfinals of the ‘Champions’ for the first time

Napoli beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 on Wednesday to qualify for the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time in its history and certify the presence of three Italian clubs in the round of eight best.

Victor Osimhen continued their goalscoring idyll by scoring in every half and Piotr Zielinski converted a late penalty to seal a 5-0 aggregate win for the Serie A leaders.

It is the first time since 2006 that three Italian teams have made their way into the quarter-finals of Europe’s top club tournament.

Restrictions will no longer be applied to avoid crosses between teams from the same country, so Napoli could end up meeting against Inter Milan or AC Milan in the draw to be held on Friday. Bayern Munich, Benfica, Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid complete the batch in the quarterfinals.
