Historic news for the Indian film industry: RRR film won an Oscar last night at the Academy Awards as India’s first feature film, in the Best Song category with naatu naatu.
The song became a worldwide hit, in part due to the dance videos made to it on Instagram.
Naatu Naatu topped songs Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick, This is a Life from Everything Everywhere All at Once and Applause from Tell It Like a Woman.
“There are no words to describe this surreal moment. Dedicating this to all of our amazing fans around the world,” the winners said.
During the ceremony at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, the performance of the song was also one of the highlights:
