Musarat Alam Butt appointed new chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference in Occupied Kashmir has appointed Musarat Alam Butt as the new chief in place of the late Syed Ali Gilani.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Musarat Alam Butt will be the new chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference while Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar will be the vice chairmen.

Maulvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani will continue as the General Secretary.

The names were announced by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) at an extraordinary meeting at its Srinagar office on September 7.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has paid rich tributes to the late leader Syed Ali Gilani and expressed its determination to continue its mission.

Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani died in Srinagar on September 1 due to a long illness. The late Syed Ali Gilani was suffering from heart disease and in 2007 he was also diagnosed with kidney cancer.

Syed Ali Gilani was born on September 27, 1929, in a village on the shores of Lake Waller in Bandipora District of Kashmir. He was active in the struggle for Kashmir’s independence for seven decades.
