Murali Vijay returned to the cricket field after two years but was unsuccessful

Test batsman Murali Vijay, who was dropped from the Indian team, returned to competitive cricket on Friday after almost two years. Murali Vijay went to Tirunelveli to play for Ruby Trichy Warriors of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). Murali Vijay’s return, however, was not successful and he could only score eight runs on 13 balls and was exhausted.

The 61 Test veteran, who last played for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League match in Dubai in September 2020, did not play for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket nor did he play in TNPL last year. He didn’t even play in the local TNCA league.

He last played for Tamil Nadu at the Ranji Trophy in December 2019. His last test for India was in 2018 against Australia in Perth. Since then the doors to return to Team India are closed for Murali Vijay.

Murali Vijay, however, claimed to be fit enough to play cricket. Before TNPL, Vijay had said: “I want to play as long as possible. I took a personal break. I wanted to take care of my family. I am enjoying my cricket at the moment and feel completely fit.

Murali Vijay has been one of the successful Test starters for India. Playing 61 Tests for the India team, Murali Vijay scored 3982 runs at an average of 39. Murali Vijay has 12 centuries and 15 half centuries to his name in Test cricket. However, Murali Vijay’s career has been very short in ODI and T20.
