MSI China just announced a new warranty program for its high-performance power supplies. If one of these power supplies fails and damages other parts of your PC, MSI will cover the cost of replacement or compensation. This is big news for PC enthusiasts.
The program is only available in China for now and applies to power supplies with 80+ Gold, Platinum, or Titanium certification. If a power supply fails, MSI will provide a replacement or compensation for damaged parts, as long as you have proof of purchase and the damage is verified by a third-party inspection.
Here’s how the compensation works:
- 1st year: 100% of the replacement value
- 2nd and 3rd years: 90%
- Up to 10 years: 75%
If you have an MSI component that’s damaged, the company will provide a similar replacement. For parts from other brands, MSI will offer a similar product or cash compensation, depending on availability and the remaining warranty period.
This move is a significant step forward for consumer protection, but it’s currently limited to the Chinese market. There’s no word yet on whether the program will expand to other regions. Outside of China, MSI still offers a standard 10-year warranty for its high-performance power supplies, but without the extra coverage for connected components.
It’ll be interesting to see how this program plays out and whether other manufacturers will follow suit. For now, it’s a big win for PC enthusiasts in China, and we can only hope that similar protection will become available worldwide.
