Chennai Super Kings beat Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets on Monday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Chasing 167 runs, CSK won in 19.3 overs. This was CSK’s second win this season.
MS Dhoni Shines
MS Dhoni was named Player of the Match after scoring 26 runs off 11 balls, including 1 six and 4 fours. Dhoni became the oldest player to win the award in the IPL. He last won it in 2019.
Dhoni was surprised to receive the award. He said, “I’m surprised I’m getting this award. Noor Ahmad bowled really well today.” Noor Ahmad didn’t take any wickets but kept Lucknow’s batsmen under pressure, conceding just 13 runs in 4 overs.
CSK’s Winning Streak
Dhoni said winning the game was great for the team’s confidence. “Unfortunately, a few games didn’t go our way. But we’re happy to be on the winning side. We hope it continues.” He added that the team had struggled with bowling in the first six overs but had made a comeback in the middle overs.
CSK made some changes to their bowling lineup to include more bowlers in the first six overs. Dhoni said, “We need more bowlers for Super Overs. We were putting too much pressure on Ashwin to bowl two overs in the first six. This change looks like a better attack.”
Batting Unit
Dhoni praised Rashid Khan’s batting, saying he had improved over the years. “Rashid batted really well today. He’s been with us for a few years, and we’ve seen him improve. He needed a chance to bat higher up in the order, and he took it.” Dhoni added that the team’s batting unit could do better.
The win was a boost for CSK, and Dhoni was happy to be part of the winning team. “We’re happy to be winning. We hope it continues.”
