Movistar, attacking Liège with Van Vleuten and Mas

The Movistar team faces its first Liège-Bastoña-Liège this Sunday after the era of Alejandro Valverde. After not being able to shine in the Amstel Gold Race and after a good performance by Alex Aranburu and Enric Mas in Flecha Wallonne, finishing in the Top-20 at Muro de Huy, the Spanish team is already looking to the big event this Sunday in ‘The Dean’.

A Liège-Bastogne-Liège in which Enric Mas will start as leader of the ranks to fight for victory against cyclists of the stature of Tadej Pogacar or Remco Evenepoel. A Mas than last year already shone in Liège to finish in twelfth position arriving in the group that played for second place after Remco Evenepoel.

Together with Mas, the other great asset of Movistar for the Ardennes will attend, Álex Aranburu, who touched the Top-20 in his only participation in ‘La Decana’ in 2021. The Movistar team for Liège-Bastogne-Liège is completed by the same riders who already participated this Wednesday in the Fleche Wallonne: the Portuguese Ruben Guerreiro and the Spaniards Gonzalo Serrano, Gorka Izagirre, Jorge Arcas and José Joaquín Rojas.

Van Vleuten, to revalidate title in his last Liège

On the other hand, in the female category, Annemiek Van Vleuten will try to defend his victory in Liège-Bastogne-Liège last year in what will be his last participation as a professional in the test.

To carry out this mission, Van Vleuten will be well supported by the German Liane Lippert, who will be the team’s alternative and who has just achieved a great second place in the Fleche Wallonne after Demi Vollering.
