Mouth: Advíncula or Briasco, the only doubt to receive Belgrano

The coach of Boca, Jorge Almirón, will wait for the evolution of the Peruvian Luis Advincula, with a muscular discomfort, to define the starting lineup that will receive Belgrano de Córdoba this Sunday, in which Norberto Briasco could enter if the right-back does not recover .

Advíncula underwent studies that ruled out a tear in his adductor, but showed inflammation in the muscle tendons, for which he was preserved.

The Peruvian became a right winger in the victories against Racing for the Professional League and Colo Colo for the Libertadores, where he was a figure in both games and scored a goal against the Chilean champions in the 2-0 victory.

The xeneize squad held a soccer practice this Friday at La Bombonera, in which the coach stopped Sergio Romero; Marcelo Weigandt, Facundo Roncaglia, Nicolás Figal and Frank Fabra; Martín Payero, Cristian Medina and Oscar Romero; Briasco, Darío Benedetto and Sebastián Villa.

A super offensive formation

The absence of the Peruvian defender and with the confirmation of Villa -replacement of a flu picture- were the most important novelties in the trial.

The Colombian winger was going to enter through Briasco, but due to the muscular discomfort in the adductor suffered by Advíncula, the former Huracán continued in the formation and joined the Colombian to form an offensive trident that was completed by Benedetto, also back after an injury.

The formation that Almirón stopped ended up being very offensive, with a midfield made up of Martín Payero, Cristian Medina and Oscar Romero, all with an attacking profile, and to which three forwards joined.

Without a natural central midfielder due to the suspensions of Alan Varela (with five yellow cards) and Ezequiel “Equi” Fernández (sent off against River), DT leaned towards Medina when it seemed that Esteban Rolón, the only central midfielder he had left, could enter to the team.

The coach will return to the 4-3-3 scheme that he used in most matches, except for the defeats in the classics against San Lorenzo and River, in which he proposed a 5-3-2.

Some in the “Mundo Boca” questioned that DT strategy in the two classics, especially against River, when the team had just had the two best performances of this cycle with the Peruvian as a false striker.

The return of two references

Fabra and Benedetto, recovered from their injuries, were ratified. For the Colombian it will be the return after a month of being unemployed due to a sprain of the internal lateral ligament of his right knee in the loss against Colón on April 9.

Meanwhile, “Pipa” Benedetto will have a special match against “Pirata” with the need to cut a losing streak and shout his first goal in the current Professional League.

The center forward, who was in just 11 games of the team’s 20 during 2023, scored a hat-trick against Patronato in the Super Cup and another goal against Olimpo for the Argentine Cup, but in the local tournament he has not scored since last October 9, in the 2-1 win against Aldosivi.

From there, eight games passed, two from the last championship and six from the current one without being able to break the streak.

With Almirón, on the 9th he played the first three games of the cycle, with San Lorenzo, Estudiantes and Pereira from Colombia. On Tuesday he was discharged and joined the group work, was the starter in the soccer practices of the week and is shaping up to be this Sunday.

Merentiel’s suspension and Luis Vázquez’s drought make it more than necessary for Boca to recover from the loss in the Superclásico.

The last Argentine champion will begin a four-game streak in 15 days on Sunday, which will then be extended against Argentinos Juniors (Friday 19), Pereira in Colombia (Wednesday 24) and Tigre at home (Sunday 28), for the Professional League.
