Mourinho’s plan B after Xhaka’s signing failed

As reported by the German newspaper Bild, Jose Mourinho requested the signature of Thomas Delaney given Granit Xhaka’s refusal to leave Arsenal in the current summer transfer market. O AS Rome they need to strengthen their squad to fight for the Serie A title and have their eye on one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga.

The entire Italian capital has a serious problem in the defensive midfield, so it needs to close a major incorporation in this position to be able to compensate and have a team capable of fighting Inter Milan, Juventus de Torino, AC Milan and Napoli.

The new option to strengthen the midfield

José Mourinho took for granted the signing of Granit Xhaka, who was always the first option to arrive this summer, but Arsenal continue to count on him for next season and the player has decided to stay, to such an extent that he is close to renewing until the summer 2025. This information changed Rome’s planning, which turned all its attention to Thomas Delaney.

The Danish midfielder, who has just signed a big Eurocup with his country’s national team, has a much lower sale price because Borussia Dortmund would be willing to profit from it to bring in new recruits. The giallorossi costume could be made with his services for just 10 million euros, half the cost of Xhaka.

AS Roma are looking to close their third signing in the market, after the arrival of Rui Patricio to reinforce the goal and Eldor Shomurodov to boost the offensive rotation. Delaney is a great signing, considering that he is a profile that fits in very well with José Mourinho’s idea.
