A football team suffered a double blow to its midfield lineup during a recent match, with one player succumbing to a flu-like illness and another exiting with an ankle injury. The unforeseen departures of midfielders Enzo Barrenechea and Richard Ríos presented an immediate challenge on the field.
Barrenechea, an Argentine midfielder, did not return for the second half of the game. According to coach José Mourinho, he was sick and vomiting at halftime. It was later confirmed that Barrenechea was experiencing a flu syndrome.
Colombian midfielder Richard Ríos was forced out of the game later, leaving the field after an opposing team scored to equalize the match at 2-2. Ríos had lost possession of the ball in the play that led to the tying goal.
He was seen stretched out on the ground with significant complaints of right ankle trauma. Although the incident was not deemed a foul, Ríos ultimately abandoned the pitch due to his injury.
Ríos had previously received a tactical fifth yellow card in a prior match. This strategic move was intended to make him miss a less critical game and ensure his availability for an upcoming derby.
