Motorola has introduced its new Edge 70 smartphone, emphasizing an ultra-thin design and a high-end display developed through its strategic partnership with global color authority Pantone.
The device measures just 5.99 millimeters thick, positioning it among the slimmest smartphones available. It weighs 159 grams.
Its 6.67-inch pOLED Super HD screen features a 1.5K resolution and boasts a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The display supports a 120 Hz refresh rate and 10-bit color depth.
A key highlight is the screen’s accurate color reproduction, adhering to Pantone SkinTone and Pantone Colour standards, and covering 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Motorola announced its long-term strategic alliance with Pantone in September 2022.
The Edge 70 launched in the United Kingdom with a price of approximately $860 (799 Euros) or $875 (700 British Pounds), available in Pantone-certified colors including Lily Pad, Gadget Grey, and Bronze Green. Motorola plans to expand sales to Europe and the Middle East this week, followed by other global markets soon.
Powering the smartphone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 mid-range chipset, manufactured on a 4nm process. It features an 8-core CPU running at up to 2.8 GHz and an Adreno 722 GPU.
The phone comes with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage. It runs on a stock version of Android 16 and is guaranteed five years of security updates, through June 2031.
For photography, the Edge 70 includes a triple camera system. This comprises a 50-megapixel main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization, along with a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens that also offers macro capabilities.
The front-facing camera is also 50-megapixels, capable of 4K video recording. The device integrates Moto AI features for enhanced photography, such as Action Shot, Night Vision, and a Magic Editor tool powered by Google Photos.
A 4,800 mAh Silicon-Carbon battery provides up to 50 hours of usage. It supports 68W TurboPower fast charging, offering an hour of use from a 15-minute charge, and 15W wireless charging.
The smartphone is built with an aircraft-grade aluminum frame and a nylon-inspired silicone back. It carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance, along with MIL-STD 810H military-grade durability.
Additional features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, an under-display fingerprint sensor, and Lenovo’s ThinkShield security technology. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC.
