Toto Wolff extends his contract with Mercedes thanks to Lewis Hamilton
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has put an end to speculation about his future by confirming he has agreed a new contract to remain at the helm of the team for another three years. The Austrian Toto Wolf also reiterated his conviction Lewis Hamilton can still achieve his eighth championship world at this time.
Wolff joined Mercedes in 2013, the same year as Hamilton Together they celebrated enormous successes. Mercedes won the constructors' championship eight times in a row between 2014 and 2021, and Hamilton won six drivers' titles. Wolff is now co-owner of the team with a 33% stake, along with Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos Group and Mercedes.

Current challenges for Mercedes
The team has struggled with an uncompetitive car over the last two seasons and has been overtaken by Max Verstappen and the dominant Red Bull. However, Wolff has stated that his motivation to return to the top is stronger than ever as he has committed to remaining as team boss for three more seasons, including the next major rule change in 2026.
Hamilton, now 39, has not won a race since the end of 2021, the longest streak of his career. But Wolff is confident his driver is still at his best ahead of the new season, which is due to start on March 2 in Bahrain.
