The teams of MotoGP are rushing to complete the last day of preseason training in 2025 at the Buriram test in Thailand. With major decisions already made, today’s focus is on attempting to improve and make long runs to assess race rhythm. In the first hour, several riders took advantage of the relatively mild heat to search for a good time. Pedro Acosta did the best, breaking Marc Márquez’s record from the first day with a time of 1:29.133, compared to Márquez’s 1:29.184. This indicates that KTM is performing better on the Thai track, and Acosta is the reference point for his factory. Following closely behind are Brad Binder, Maverick Viñales, who is making progress in his adaptation, and Bastianini, who admitted to feeling lost and needing to reset and forget his four years with Ducati.
The solidity of Álex Márquez
Acosta’s lead was short-lived, as Áatsby Márquez soon reached 1:29.034, installing himself in the top positions of the table. The Gresini has optimal sensations, particularly with the GP24 in a layout that demands strong braking, which they are not fond of.
Marc puts everything in place
However, Marc Márquez is not ready to let another rider dominate. With the temperature rising, the eight-time champion marked a great 1:28.855, staying just one tenth of the record of the Circuit of Chang, 1:28.700, which was set by Pecco Bagnaia to achieve pole in the October Grand Prix. Márquez, like his fellow rider, has already made the decision to proceed with the 2024 engine and is focused on fine-tuning it to prepare for the first race of the course on March 1-2.
The surprises
In the first half of the day, Marco Bezzecchi with the Aprilia posted good times, exceeding any previous RS-GP records in Buriram. Additionally, the rookie Ai Ogura is surprising by competing with the best, showcasing his potential.
