The Frenchman Johann Zarco, with Ducati, kept the best time in the trials of the Austrian Grand Prix of the Moto GP World Championship, which for the 13th. The specialty championship date will be held on Sunday at the Red Bull Ring circuit, located in the Austrian town of Spielberg.
Frenchman Johann Zarco led the Ducati leading trio in testing, with a time of 1m29.837s, to travel the 4,318-meter Austrian track, seconded by Australian Jack Miller and Spaniard Jorge Martín.
Fourth, and breaking the hegemony of the Ducati, was the current champion, Frenchman Fabio Quartaro (Yamaha), followed by four other Ducati, from the Italians Francesco Bagnaia, Luca Marini, Marco Bezzechi and Enea Bastianini.
The top ten was closed by the Spanish Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) and the South African Brad Binder (KTM).
Saturday’s Moto GP activity at the Red Bull Ring track will include two practice sessions (FP 3 and FP4) and, at 9:10, qualifying will begin.
Of the first 12 dates of the championship, the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) won four, and the current champion, the French Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) and the Italian Enea Bastiani (Ducati) triumphed three times, and with a victory they scored the Spanish Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia), and the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira (KTM).
The six-time Moto GP monarch, the Spaniard Marc Marquez, who is recovering from an operation on his left arm, will be in Austria, and his objective is to accompany and support the official Honda team for which he competes.
After 12 rounds of the championship, the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) is at the top of the standings, with 180 points, followed by the Spanish Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia), 158, the Italians Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), 131, and Enea Bastianini ( Ducati), 118.
