Mother and Son Lost at Sea in Montevideo Found After 4 Hours

Staff members from the Truville prefecture were focusing on ensuring the security of the Iemanjá celebration at Ramírez beach on Sunday when they received an emergency call. The call came in around 20:00, after a person reported losing sight of a woman and a man who were in the water using rowing boards, similar to surfboards.

Fifteen minutes later, at 20:15, part of the staff who were providing support for the Iemanjá celebration began searching for the two individuals. Unfortunately, the initial searches did not yield any results. However, in a remarkable turn of events, the mother and son managed to return to the coast on their own, arriving at the height of the golf club at midnight, four hours after they were first reported missing.

The 81-year-old woman and the 56-year-old man had spent at least four hours swimming on their Paddle Boards to reach safety. Upon their arrival, medical professionals examined them and found that they were in good health. Both the woman and the man explained that they had been taken out to sea by the current while they were in the water with their rowing boards. Despite the ordeal, they were fortunate to have made it back to shore safely.
