Moss scores 23 points and Metros sweep the Royals series

The Santiago Metros had six players in double figures in points in the 100-87 victory against Reales de La Vega in the National Basketball League (LNB) match held this Saturday at the Fernando Teruel Sports Center here.

With the victory, the Metros placed their record at 6-6, while winning the private series against the Royals, who appear with a 5-7 record, and lose for the second time in a row.

The Mets’ Brandon Moss put on a show in the fourth quarter with powerful dunks against the Royals’ fragile defense, which was thrashed 35-26 in the fourth quarter.

For the Metros, who broke a four-game losing streak at Fernando Teruel, Brandon Moss scored 23 points with seven rebounds; Orlando Johnson had 21 and six turnovers; Eloy Vargas, 19 points and 12 rebounds; Miguel Dicent contributed 12, Ramón Galoway 11 and Adris de León contributed 11 points, four assists and four rebounds.

“We knew the importance of this match and this victory has been very important in our aspirations,” said De León at the end of the match.

Ángel Delgado, with 25 points and five rebounds, was the best for the Royals, who also had Steven Taylor, with 21 points and seven rebounds; Gelvis Solano, with 15 units, and Rigoberto Mendoza, with 14.

The Mets shot 56 percent from the field to 42 for the Royals, who lost the rebounding battle 35-41, as well as assists 17-22 and points in the paint 32-56.

The quarters ended 17-25, 23-19, 25-17 and 35-26 in favor of the visitors.
