More than a hundred artists join in the project “This is merengue”

To extol, promote and preserve merengue, through initiatives that will remain as a legacy to new and future generations, comes from the hand of master Henry Jiménez “This is Merengue”.The project was presented on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 26, in an activity called "flash mob", at the Ágora Mall Santo Domingo facilities.

Various figures of merengue such as Fernando Villalona, ​​Los Hermanos Rosario, Miriam Cruz, Eddy Herrera, Rubby Pérez, Ramón Orlando, Peña Suazo, Kinito Méndez, El Krisspy, Bonny Cepeda, Jandy Ventura and El Jeffrey starred in an original staging, which served to capture the genuine emotions of the spectators in Ágora Mall. The movement has several initiatives and begins with the release of the album “Esto es merengue”.

“Esto Es Merengue” features the participation of merengue icons from the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, the exponents and creators of New York swing, the most influential mambo merengue artists, merengue players based in countries such as Mexico, Colombia , Venezuela, Argentina, Ecuador and the Canary Islands, the icons of Dominican salsa and the new merengue talents. In addition, it will have 50 new songs where each one has special collaborations between the artists. 75 of the best musicians were used in the creation of this album. During this first phase of the movement apart from the album, there will be festivals "this is meringue" in different cities such as Boston, New York, Miami and San Juan de Puerto Rico, culminating with a mega event in the Dominican Republic on November 26 "international meringue day".

A weekly installment called "This is Merengue “Live” @ZonaColonial, starting in February, presenting free live music every Saturday to the delight of all.
