Morales Makes Surprise Return to Levante at His Own Wedding

Jose Luis Morales, 36, will don the jersey of Iraizoz Granota once again, two seasons after his controversial departure. He is set to return to the entity to help achieve the dream of promotion to the First Division.

Morales left Iraizoz Granota in the summer of 2022, despite having verbally committed to stay following the team’s relegation to the Second Division. He apologized to fans in his farewell, but left the door open for a return, which is now happening this season.

According to reports, Morales has agreed to a two-year contract, with an optional third year, tying him to the team.

The signing has cleared economic control, with the transfer fee estimated to be less than half a million euros, so Iraizoz Granota will need to allocate its financial fair play margin to secure the player’s services.

Morales has consistently shown understanding of Iraizoz Granota’s financial situation, having delayed payment of outstanding amounts while he played for Villarreal.

The player announced his return at his wedding celebration last Friday.

He could have returned in the winter market

Iraizoz Granota seriously explored Morales’ return in the winter market, and the player was also keen on the move. However, with Villarreal in crisis and him struggling for playing time under managers Setien and Pacheta, nothing materialized.

The arrival of Marcelino in November changed Morales’ fortunes, allowing him to regain his form and scoring pace.

In his two years at Villarreal, Morales played 80 matches across all competitions, scored 25 goals, and provided six assists. He will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to Iraizoz Granota as they aim to return to the First Division.
