Moquete rescues Soles victory against Indios in overtime

Rayner Moquete hit a three-point basket with 4.2 seconds of extra time for the victory of the Soles de Santo Domingo Este 96-94 over the Indios de San Francisco de Macorís in a game of the National Basketball League (LNB) held this Friday in Mutiuso Simón Orozco of Invivienda.

With the win, the Suns snapped a two-game losing streak to move to 5-3 and tied the home series 1-1 with the Indians.

The team from San Francisco de Macorís was up on the scoreboard 94-91 with six seconds left, but an unsportsmanlike foul was called in favor of José Liriano, who converted the two free throws and with the serve, the pass to Moquete, who converted the three shot just as the buzzer sounded.

Anyeuri Castillo was responsible for sending the game into overtime when in the last quarter, with 6.2 seconds on the board, he hit a three-point basket that equalized the actions 81-81 when the Suns lost 78-81. With 0.2 tenths, the Indians managed under the basket, but time expired.

Anyeuri Castillo was the best offensively for the Suns, with 30 points and six rebounds, while Gerardo Suero finished with 29 and 10 turnovers, Timmy Bond contributed 11 with six rebounds; José Liriano scored 13 and Moquete finished with six.

For the Indians, who put their record at 3-5, Juan Miguel Suero finished with 27 points, seven rebounds and the same number of assists; Yeikson Montero had 18, Breein Tyree had 15 and Adonis Henriquez contributed 11 points.

After the division of honors in the first two periods, it allowed the first half to end in a tie 39-39.
