Montevideo Traffic Cameras Capture Bullet Attack on “Los Colorados” Member

The Traffic Control Chambers of the Mobility Management Center (CGM) of the Municipality of Montevideo (IMM) captured the shocking moment of a bullet attack against a member of the “Los Colorados” drug traffickers of Cerro Norte. This incident, which occurred on Sunday at 3 pm, left a woman and a child with serious injuries.

Sequence of Events

According to the registered footage from traffic cameras, at 15:08 on Sunday, a light gray Hyundai stopped at the traffic lights of Luis Alberto de Herrera and Rambla Armenia. Suddenly, a high-displacement motorcycle appeared, and its driver pulled out a weapon, shooting several times towards the vehicle. The car was carrying a man, a woman, and a child, and was driven by one of the members of the North Cerro Band.

After the attack, the motorcyclist continued driving, ignoring the red traffic light, and the Hyundai driver followed, eventually ramming the motorcycle and leaving it under the car. The shooter escaped on foot, fleeing down Luis Alberto de Herrera, and then got into a white Chevrolet Onix that had been following behind. The vehicle then turned left and continued towards Pocitos along the Rambla.

Victims and Investigation

The motorist, Alex Mattos, suffered two gunshot wounds to the back, while the woman, Alexa Berón, received two shots to the head and is currently in the CTI of the Clinic Hospital. Fortunately, the 4-year-old child, who was also in the vehicle, only sustained a non-serious bullet friction wound. This attack is not an isolated incident, as the narco bank has been targeted before. The young parents of 1-year-old Tomás, who was killed in a bullet attack on October 12, 2024, in Cerro Norte, are also members of the affected family. The “Los Colorados” band is known to dispute power and territory with the “Los Suárez” band.
