Montevideo Police Officer Robbed: Four Criminals Steal Glock, Motorcycle in Manga

An ordinary Monday morning turned frightening for a 43-year-old police officer in Montevideo’s Manga neighborhood. He had just finished an extra security shift, off duty and in plain clothes. Suddenly, he was ambushed by four criminals who rode up on motorcycles. At least two of them showed guns, threatening him directly.

The robbers moved quickly. They took his official service weapon, a 9mm Glock pistol. They also stole his motorcycle. During the chaotic robbery, one of the attackers hit the officer. He received a blow to the head from the butt of a gun.

The frightening incident took place at the intersection of Paso al Andaluz and Camino Pólux. After taking what they wanted, the criminals sped off. They headed towards Toledo Chico. The officer, though shaken, was not seriously hurt. He quickly called the 911 emergency line for help. He told dispatchers he had been carrying his service weapon at his waist.
