Money Laundering Probe: Conexión Ganadera Case Sees New Testimonies

The investigation into Conexión Ganadera is gaining momentum. Enrique Rodríguez, the Asset Laundering Prosecutor, recently questioned a key accountant from Hernandarias, a satellite company of Conexión Ganadera, and Rodolfo Flores, the former operational manager of accounts.

This development comes on the heels of statements from Martín Bartol, Conexión Ganadera’s ex-general manager, and Diego Quiroga, an administrative employee. Ricardo Giovio, an accountant, also shared his insights as a witness, having participated in a streaming session with Pablo Carrasco.

The probe is set to continue, with Maximiliano Rodríguez, responsible for Pasfer, a major cattle-holding company linked to Conexión Ganadera, scheduled to appear next Tuesday. Pablo Carrasco’s lawyer, Jorge Barrera, praised the prosecutor’s efforts, calling it an “intense week” with significant progress. Barrera highlighted the diligence of the fiscal team in gathering evidence and requesting crucial documents.

Barrera expressed optimism that the upcoming declarations would pave the way for Carrasco and Ana Iewdiukow, key figures in Hernandarias, to be summoned. He emphasized the importance of transparency and adherence to legal procedures throughout the investigation.

The lawyer noted that the verification of credits would conclude by April 21 and that Hernandarias had been liquidated judicially. Meanwhile, Juan Pablo Decia, representing several victims of Conexión Ganadera, argued that the affected parties should be involved in the interrogation process.

Decia acknowledged the investigation’s steady progress, citing requests for information from the Central Bank and the National Secretariat for the Fight against Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Senaclaft). He also highlighted the adoption of precautionary measures, including border closures and passport seizure, for the accused.
