The 26-year-old will return to Kansas City and be evaluated there before the next steps and time frame for his recovery are determined.
The club promoted outfielder Kyle Isbel and Puerto Rican infielder Emmanuel Rivera from Triple-A Omaha and sent right-hander Brady Singer to Triple-A.
