The Principality club, Monaco, has landed a major signing. They announced that veteran Finnish international goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky is joining their ranks. He arrives from Bayer Leverkusen, ready to guard Monaco’s net for the next two seasons.
Hradecky, who is 35 years old, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal. The agreement also includes an option for a third season, showing a commitment from both sides. French media outlets are reporting that the transfer fee for the highly-rated shot-stopper was around three million Euros.
This move marks the end of an era for Hradecky in the German league. He played a massive 323 games there, splitting his time between Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen. His career truly shined brightest at Leverkusen, where he achieved incredible success. He was the captain and undisputed number one goalkeeper when the team lifted the championship trophy in the 2023-24 season. Beyond his club career, Hradecky boasts an impressive 101 caps for the Finnish national team, showcasing his international pedigree.
The Slovakia-born goalkeeper wasted no time getting involved with his new team. He already played in a friendly match today for Monaco, who finished third in the last Ligue 1 season. The game was against Italian giants Inter Milan. Hradecky’s arrival means a change in goal for Monaco. Radoslaw Majecki, who joined the club in 2020, will now be heading out on loan. French news reports state that Majecki will spend the upcoming season with Brest.
