The Milan – San Remo 2023 will have as great favorites figures of the stature of Tadej Pogacar, Mathieu Van der Poel, Wout Van Aert… and also a Matej Mohoric who attends the event as the current defender of the title achieved last year against all odds.
Mohoric will seek to revalidate his victory in San Remo and for this he will use again one of the mechanisms that already helped him achieve victory last year: his famous telescopic seatpost that helped him trace the descent of the Poggio at high speed.
Mohoric himself hinted that he would use this dropper post again in statements to Cyclingnews before the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad dispute. “More or less it will be the same bike. If you come to Milan, you will see it ”, he stated, before the team itself confirmed that Mohoric would use this mechanism again.
Thus Mohoric presents himself as a great threat to Pogacar, Van der Poel and Van Aert, since in the case of crowning with them or very close to them at the Poggio, he could release them on the descent towards San Remo, where Mohoric already demonstrated last year why he is one of the best bashers in the world.
