Modi government changed the name of poet Akbar Allahabadi

Uttar Pradesh: After changing the name of the historical city of Allahabad in India, now the name of the famous poet of the subcontinent Akbar Allahabadi has also been changed.

According to Indian media reports, the UP government changed the name of the famous Urdu poet Akbar Allahabadi to ‘Akbar Prayag Raj’.

The Uttar Pradesh government’s Higher Education Commission Service has written Akbar Allahabadi’s name Akbar Prayag Raj in its introduction to Allahabad on its website. The rule has been added.

The move, sponsored by the BJP government, has been widely criticized by social media users in India. Pakistani social media users have also expressed regret over the move.

It should be noted that Akbar Allahabadi is considered as one of the leading poets of Urdu language.

It may be recalled that after coming to power in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh in October 2018, the BJP had renamed Allahabad as ‘Prayag Raj’.

Born in 1846, Syed Akbar Hussain, popularly known as Akbar Allahabadi, died in February 1921.
