MM Faruqui Recounts His Bizarre Encounter with Amitabh Bachchan, Who Initially Refused to Work with Him Due to Superstitions

Actors in the Hindi film industry often face a range of challenges, and for some, superstition can be a significant obstacle. Senior actor MM Farooqui, also known as Lilliput, has recently revealed that he once felt he was unlucky, which led him to pass up opportunities to work with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan.

Considered Himself Unfortunate

In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Lilliput explained that his films with Amitabh Bachchan were constantly being shelved, leading him to feel that he was unlucky. He even mentioned his concerns to Amitabh Bachchan, ultimately refusing to work with him.

Lilliput’s Journey

During an interview, Lilliput recounted his journey, including his interactions with Subhash Ghai, who had offered him a role in the film Sher Bahadur alongside Amitabh Bachchan. Lilliput had already signed several other films at the time, but Subhash insisted that he leave those projects to work on Sher Bahadur. The film ultimately did not come to fruition due to Amitabh Bachchan’s poor health.

Left Films to Work with Amitabh

Lilliput explained that he had little choice but to leave the films he had already signed, but the project ultimately failed to take off. He was then offered another film, Aashiyana, with Amitabh Bachchan, but that project also did not materialize.

Regretted His Decision

Years later, when director Shaad Ali approached Lilliput to work on the film Bunty Aur Babli, his past wounds were reopened. Lilliput told Shaad that he was unlucky and that his film with Amitabh Bachchan would never be made. Shaad, however, did not believe in superstitions and went ahead with the project.
