Xiaomi has just officially launched its new high-end smartphone, the MIX 4. It is the first device from the Chinese manufacturer equipped with an under-screen camera, and the first smartphone on the market to be powered by a Snapdragon 888+.
MIX 4 is equipped with a Curved 6.67 inch 120 Hz AMOLED display, protected by a glass Gorilla Glass Victus. This is compatible with HDR10+, 10-bit color depth, Dolby Vision and offers a contrast of 5,000,000:1.
It is the first smartphone on the market to use a Snapdragon 888+, Qualcomm’s new high-end chip, an overclocked version of the classic Snapdragon 888. According to Xiaomi, its new 3.0GHz clocked X1 core would reach a score of 830,000 points in the AnTuTu benchmark. On Geekbench, we had already seen that the processor was also a little more powerful than its younger brother. It would therefore be the most powerful Android smartphone at the moment. The power of artificial intelligence also reaches 32 TOPS, that is, 23% more than Snapdragon 888.
MIX 4 uses an under-screen camera, a first for Xiaomi!
The Xiaomi MIX 4 offers under-screen camera technology, which allows the smartphone to deliver a true full-screen experience. Indeed, the front sensor is invisible when the screen is on. The latter uses an innovative technology that reduces the size of pixels and increases their brightness.
Thanks to it, Xiaomi can now increase the transparency of the camera area and minimize light diffraction, to allow the MIX 4 to take good pictures. The 20 MP front camera offers 1.6 µm pixels and 4 in 1 pixel binning.
0 to 100% in just 15 minutes thanks to 120 wire wire charging
The smartphone will be powered by a 4500 mAh battery. MIX 4 offers an ultra-fast charging 120W wired, that allows to achieve 100% battery life in just 15 minutes using boost mode, which can warm up your smartphone or in 21 minutes if you choose to keep it cool.
50W wireless charging is also part of the game and allows you to fully recharge the battery in just 28 minutes in Boost mode, and 45 minutes in normal mode. Boost mode charges your smartphone faster than the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra’s 67W wireless charging.
A photographic part not as impressive as the Mi 11 Ultra
On the photo side, Xiaomi decided to place the MIX 4 between its classic Mi 11 and the Mi 11 Ultra. Let’s find in the back a 3 camera configuration, with a 108 MP HMX main sensor, which we already found on Xiaomi Mi 11. It is accompanied by a 13MP freeform ultra wide-angle sensor, as’an 8 MP periscope that allows 5X optical zoomand 10X digital.
MIX 4 will also be Xiaomi’s first smartphone to use a Ultra Wide Band Chip, which will make it easier to control compatible connected devices. Despite the ceramic design, the smartphone won’t be a featherweight, as it weighs nothing less than 225 gramss. Finally, there are two Harman Kardon stereo speakers.
MIX 4 will unfortunately not be offered in France. It is currently available in China at price of 4999 yuan (658 euros) in its 8+128GB version, 5,299 yuan (697 euros) on 8+256GB, 5,799 yuan (763 euros) on 12+256GB and 6,299 yuan (829 euros) on 12+256GB.
